Enstar's video streaming service

If you record your presentations or seminars, you can reach a wider audience and gain a new source of revenue by selling access to videos of them online. The video is streamed over the Internet - no need to burn and send out stacks of DVDs!

Ideal for:

  • Professional lectures
  • Continuous Professional Development
  • Business coaches
  • Technical training
  • ...and a whole lot more!

We provide a simple pricing model, and a total solution, including an e-commerce engine to act as a gatekeeper.

How this compares to YouTube

YouTube is all about providing free access to video clips. Quality isn't their strong point – videos are often so compressed that they become fuzzy, and transmission issues cause frequent pauses. But they are free, so as a viewer it's hard to grumble.

On YouTube, being free is also a snag if you are trying to sell access to your material.

How we work

You record your presentation, and send it to us on DVD.
We assume you can handle this yourself, but we can put you in touch with a local cameraman if you need – just ask.

We convert the content on your DVD into a special streamed format. This effectively makes several copies of the video, each at different bandwidths, and combines them along with several similarly processed audio tracks. We then upload this all onto a Streaming Server.

We provide an e-commerce system, if you don't have a compatible one. This interfaces with your website (or can even replace it if you wish), and provides a catalogue and e-commerce facility for people to select and purchase access to view the video. It interfaces with credit card systems to get your payments, and with a Streaming Server to deliver your videos.

We stream the video: the Streaming Server receives requests from your customers to view the videos, and streams them the videos using the best quality version that their Internet connection will permit. If their connection quality reduces, rather than the video stuttering for 'rebuffering', the server detects the situation and seamlessly starts delivering a lighter-weight version of the video until their connection situation improves.

As the video is streamed, and not downloaded, they do not end up with a copy of the video on their system, so they cannot easily copy and pass it on, protecting your revenue with the minimum of fuss.

We've worked hard to make our charges as simple, transparent and affordable as possible:

  • For converting your DVD we charge $2 / £1 per minute of running time.
  • For serving your video, we charge $2 / £1 per hour of running time, for each time it is viewed.
  • If you need a supporting website with e-commerce facilities, we charge from $4,000 to $10,000 / £2,000 to £5,000 depending on the complexity, which will manage an unlimited number of videos.
